movers or excess baggage, the comfort of something familiar versus an apartment with everything brand new. nat shared a great point over dinner last night. always bring something familiar with you because that is an emotional anchor of what home feels like when you see it. she is right. i might have dragged a collection of japanese bowls with me through three households which i've hardly used. a painting that would have made it to asia and back now. but these things are part of my dna now. i see them and it reminds me of home wherever i may be.
